R.I.P. Dennis Hopper

Just heard the news. He was 74 years old (just a few years older than my mother). Very sad but expected given he had been terminally ill with prostate cancer for some time now. I know Hopper is hardly the archetype of a chick flick hunk–I don’t think he ever made ANY films that traditionally [...]

SATC2 Is LOADS of Escapist Fun-Don’t Listen to the Critics

Talk about a gender divide. The critical pummeling Sex And The City 2 has received the last few days serves as a sterling example of how different men and women are when it comes to MANY THINGS! Because many of you have probably already read one of the infinite negative reviews, I decided not to [...]

Sex and The City 2 Pulls in $3 million Wed. Midnight Showings/$17.5 mil Thursday

I am crediting DeadlineHollywoodDaily.com for these stats. Supposedly, the movie is on track to make more than $60 million for the long holiday weekend. Talk about being critics-proof. I’m going to see it tonight and will post a review tomorrow morning.

Sold Out in Chelsea Too!

An hour ago, I walked past the Chelsea Clearview cinemaplex on 23rd and 8th Avenue–ALL and I mean ALL of today’s showings (day and night) of Sex and The City 2 at three different theaters within the cinemaplex are sold out. This was 1:15 pm. So much for critics.

Male Film Critics Declare War on Sex and The City 2

I just finished reading a half dozen of BLISTERING reviews (mostly penned by male critics–but of repute, like Roger Ebert, Richard Roeper and Rex Reed) of Sex and The City 2. Yes, guys, we get it. You hate this movie and its homage to the evils of conspicuous consumption. I get it and understand it. [...]

Letters to Juliet #4 For the Weekend

Supposedly its box office gross right now is $13.5 million. I have no idea what the box office gross for The Back-Up Plan is. $100? It should be.

Hollywood Reporter Says Sex and The City 2 Will Be a Smash

But the critic said it is overly long (two and a half hours). Well, that’s okay–the first one was long and we survived. According to this critic, the film is a definite improvement from the first one which already makes me happy because I was, uh, underwhelmed by the first one. Here’s the link to [...]

JLo Flops Big Time in The Back-Up Plan: Review

Back in the late 1990s, JLo, otherwise known as Jennifer Lynn Lopez of the South Bronx, was a very promising triple threat performer. She had worked as a “fly girl” dancer under choreographer/actress Rosie Perez on the hit comedy show In Living Color (which boasted a bevy of up and coming stars including a young [...]
